Plywood Vase No. 7

The monthly challenge for the Orange County Woodturner’s Club was to make a segmented item of some sort. This is what I have made

My glue up board for segmented rings

Release Liner and heavy rubber bands.
Segments inside rubber band
Pins pulled out and being compressed by bands.
First two rings together.
6 rings stacked
8 rings stacked
First rings turned on outside.
Inside of first turned rings.
10 rings now stacked.
10 rings now turned
A dozen rings glued up.
The dozen rings rough turned.
The final ring now glued on.
Now for a LOT of sanding…
The beginning coats of shellac.

Finished! I have lost track of how many coats of shellac have been applied.

I intend to enter this into the Orange County Fair this summer.
